Restoration Begins at a California Western Monarch Butterfly Over-Wintering Habitat, Huntington Beach, Ca / ASTOUNDING new scientific studies on Migrating Monarch's unique inner directional clock ....
Several NEW articles have been published regarding the significant scientific studies of the importance to mankind of the discovery of the inner workings of the migrating Monarch butterfly's unique inner circadian clock. The studies by Dr. Steven M Ruppert of the difference between the brain of a non--migrating vs a migrating monarch's brain is astounding. The circadian directional clock of a migrating monarch butterfly's navigation system allows it to return to the same over-wintering habitats for six months of each year as its ancestors have done for many generations removed & even to the same limb is incredible. These studies have been reported in an article in the Environmental News Network dated Jan 8, 2008 & Public Library of Science. It is now known that the neurobiology of the migratory Monarch's circadian clock is not like any other creature in existence. The importance of the mysteries yet to be discovered about the monarch butterflies annual endangered miracle migration is just one of many reasons that saving major over-wintering habitat homes of the western monarch butterflies of the California coast are critical to their continued existence. No winter homes and no migrating monarch butterflies. The habitat homes of these magnificent creatures need to be saved, restored & managed. As their declining numbers & imperiled status through the loss of threatened habitats, loss of milkweed plants and nectar corridors become better known to the general public, so too will the real life efforts of these " Monarch Heroes " who are saving and restoring the western monarch butterflies habitats become recognized and celebrated.
Thank you
Monarch Heroes !

Leslie Gilson is dedicated to the restoration of the beautiful Norma Gibbs Park western monarch habitat with its beautiful Monarch Butterfly tiles ( see Teachers Resource Pages for photos ) and has successfully presented these effective photo posters with the help of Hazal Taskiran to the City Council who have allocated the necessary funding for the project . Here are the photos of their courageous beginnings. She is supported by a caring community of volunteers & media who are all to be congratulated for their efforts to help the endangered migratory western monarch butterfly....a national treasure.
