Several hundred patriotic and environmentally
oriented " Free As A Butterfly " books were presented to the Camp San Luis
Obispo & Camp Roberts Army National Guard base in San Luis Obispo, Ca,
to Family Assistance Services by the Butterfly Palace Inc. a non-profit of
Nipomo, Ca.. Staff Sgt. Family Assistance Coordinator, Candy Carrizales accepted the donations
on behalf of all services personnel. " the
Monarch butterfly represents " freedom in flight " and makes it so much easier
for children to understand the word freedom" Sheila Boone
said.
The donor sponsored " Free As a Butterfly " program was presented to
children whose parents are currently based in Iraq and Afghanistan and is
intended to place emphasis on the joy and meaning of freedom and is both
entertaining and educational. Included were CDs of "Free as a Butterfly", a
patriotic song written by Ms. Boone, which illustrates the concept of freedom
by combining contemporary music with lyrics that speak of a Monarch butterfly
" flying free for all the world to see, a rainbow
of color shimmering in the morning sun "; donations of the children's books
& CD's bring comfort to the children and families of servicemen and
women deployed overseas. The western monarch butterfly related education classroom Enviro-Paks
were
developed by Marcia Trimble, publisher of Images Press.
The unique story of the Western Monarch
Butterfly migration is important because the butterfly has been a symbol of
mankind's search for peace, hope and spiritual renewal since the Bronze Age. The Free
As A Butterfly CD is dedicated to all American military branches. "The song
has personal ties as well," Boone added " it is also dedicated to decedents of
the early American hero, Daniel Boone and specifically to Lt. Col. Canfield Boone
and his family; Canfield Boone died in the Pentagon bombing during
9/11 and my granddaughter Carrie who is on active duty in Iraq". stated Sheila Boone.
She
is the 5th great granddaughter and direct descendant of Daniel Boone.
The donations were made possible through the
efforts of many donors including Marcia Trimble and Images Press, Innovative
Animations, Pacifica Corporation, Irvine, Ca , Bank of America, California
Fine Wire Corp, Charter Communications, Service Champions, Edgewater Inn,
Pismo Beach, Piasano's and SAIC Corp of San Diego, CA.; who stated "
your CD donation program is another way to pay tribute
to those who serve and their families who sacrifice so much ".
CD's are only available by a
