Sheila Boone, fifth great grand daughter & direct descendant of Daniel Boone, presented the campaign, an American Western Monarch butterfly awareness educational  program designed to bring attention to the decline of the American western Monarch butterfly and it's major habitats on California's coast. The " Enviro-Paks "  were generously donated by Mr. Tom Vestal owner of Wild Birds Unlimited of Santa Barbara, Ca and presented to Principal, Mr. Richard Huff and Mrs. Gerky's 4th grade class. Students enjoyed receiving the paks which contain a variety of exciting Monarch Butterfly materials including " Free As a Butterfly " CD'  theme song, poster, activity book, CD's, several field trip fold outs and "Malinda Martha Meets Mariposa" a book by Marcia Trimble. The school is located adjacent to a major over-wintering habitat of the western monarch butterfly at  Ellwood, Goleta, Ca
